SOUTH
AFRICA
A
diverse range of climates in South Africa
means that dry, sunny weather conditions can
be found throughout the year, regardless of
whether it is Summer or Winter.
However,
while the Northern Hemisphere is preparing for
the onslaught of Winter, South Africa is awakening
to the beginnings of Spring. For a detailed

NAMIBIA
Namibia is subject to extreme desert temperatures
with fog along the coast, and sporadic summer
rainfall.
MOZAMBIQUE
The
climate varies in the different regions
of the country with inland areas slightly cooler
and more than the coastal region during the
rainy season. Winters are warm, dry and last
from April to September. The southern coastal
region is drier and less tropical than the north,
with temperatures averaging 80ºF (27ºC).
Summers are hot and humid with occasional rain
between October to March, with average coastal
temperatures of 88ºF (31ºC).
SEYCHELLES
The islands of Seychelles enjoy a
pleasant tropical climate all year round.
Temperatures rarely fall below 24°C
or rise above 33°C. During
the months of May through to September when
the trade winds blow from the southeast the
climate is generally cooler and drier with a
slight breeze. Northwest monsoons from November
through to March bring more rain, sometimes
in heavy squalls, higher humidity and warmer
weather. The transitional months of April and
October are fairly hot, with little breeze and
calm seas. As the islands lie outside the cyclone
belt, high winds and thunderstorms are rare.
MAURITIUS
Mauritius
has a tropical maritime climate,
with relatively little seasonal variation in
temperatures, and is generally pleasant and
sunny on the coast all year round. Winter, from
May to October is warm and dry. Summer, from
November to April is hot, humid and rainy. Cyclones
occur between January and March. Sea breezes
blow all year, especially on the east coast,
and the inland central plateau around Curepipe
is cooler and rainy throughout the year.
THE
MALDIVES
The
Maldives have a hot, tropical climate.
There are two monsoons, the southwest from May
to October and the northeast from November to
April. Generally the southwest brings more wind
and rain in June and July. The temperature rarely
falls below 25°C (77°F).
