Most
importantly - South Africa and the
Indian Ocean Islands are situated
in the Southern Hemisphere, this
offers a sun-drenched summer climate with clear
blue skies and reliable weather whilst the Northern
Hemisphere is shivering under wintery conditions.
Extended shooting hours in the Western
Cape region mean that we enjoy long dry days with
sunrise at 5 a.m. and sunset at 8 p.m.

at our world-acclaimed laboratories in Johannesburg
or Cape Town.
South
Africa is easily accessed from
the world’s major cities via direct flights
to either Johannesburg or Cape Town international
airports. Travel to either of these airports takes
approximately 10 – 12 hours from most European
cities and 18 hours from the US East Coast and Canada.
Time
Zones
in the Southern African region have the advantage
of being compatible with Europe - being only 2 hours
ahead of GMT; 1 hour ahead of Central European Winter
time and 7 – 10 hours in advance of Eastern
Winter time.
Cape
Town’s “Secret Season"
is during May to September when the sun is pleasantly
warm, the light softer, the air clearer and the
landscape lush and green. With temperatures still
in the 20's, it feels like summer, but
it's winter. The South-easterly
wind doesn't blow and the odd rainstorm can easily
be accommodated by a well-scheduled production with
weather cover. Discounts and deals can be struck
with airlines, hotels, crew, equipment, studio rentals
and post-production facilities. Best of all, the
city and its surrounds are less crowded than during
summer, so locations are easy to hire and yours
for the picking.
